A search for missing Syracuse man Jon D'Agostino, last seen leaving Ithaca College on September 7, has shifted focus to Pennsylvania. The 20-year-old's car was discovered at Buttermilk Falls State Park, along with his phone and a note suggesting self-harm. Extensive search efforts in the 811-acre park, involving drones, dogs, and multiple law enforcement agencies, yielded no sightings.
Jon's father, Frank D'Agostino, received a tip that Jon was given a ride on September 8 from Elmira, New York, to Trout Run, Pennsylvania. Frank stated, "The details he was able to provide of their conversation make me 100% sure it was him." Jon reportedly mentioned heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and then further south, using libraries for internet access.
Authorities are urging residents across Pennsylvania and several southern states to look out for Jon. He is described as a white male, around six feet tall, 210 pounds, with a shaved head, dark beard, and mustache, last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray sweatshirt, and a green knit hat.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Park Police at 607-387-7081. For those in crisis, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available at 800-273-8255.
