Syracuse drivers will face lane closures on Interstate 690 today (September 19) as part of the ongoing I-81 Viaduct Project. The New York Department of Transportation announced that the highway will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The affected areas include I-690 eastbound between the I-81 northbound on-ramp and Exit 14 (Teall Avenue), and I-690 westbound between Exit 14 and Exit 13 (Townsend Street/Downtown) as reported by WSYR-TV.

The closures are necessary for surveying and pavement marking work, which are crucial components of the I-81 Viaduct Project. These construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions according to Yahoo News.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution while driving through the work zone, adhere to traffic control devices, and be aware that fines are doubled for speeding in these areas. The New York State Department of Transportation emphasizes the importance of driving responsibly to ensure the safety of highway workers as stated on their official website.
