Investigation Ongoing After Fire at Novelis Plant in Scriba

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a three-alarm fire that broke out at the Novelis aluminum factory in Scriba on Tuesday night (September 16). Firefighters from across Oswego County responded to the blaze, which started around 10:15 p.m. and required mutual aid from nearly 20 departments, according to NewsBreak.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames, but managed to get the situation under control after approximately four hours. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. The Novelis plant, which employs about 1,200 people, was temporarily closed due to the fire. Oswego County News Now reported that the plant was shut down on Wednesday as a result.

The Oswego Fire Department was among the many agencies that responded to the scene, working diligently to contain the fire and prevent further damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine what sparked the blaze. The community is awaiting further updates as the investigation continues.
