Syracuse University football team is hopeful that running back Yasin Willis and left tackle Trevion Mack will return for their upcoming game against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday (September 20). Head coach Fran Brown expressed optimism about their participation in the critical road matchup.

Neither Willis nor Mack played in Syracuse's recent victory over Colgate at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange secured a decisive win but are preparing for a more challenging contest against Clemson, where they have lost their last five games.

The absence of Willis and Mack was felt during the game against UConn, where Syracuse struggled offensively, managing only 44 yards on the ground. Quarterback Steve Angelli, under pressure for much of the game, completed 33 of 53 passes for 417 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Despite these challenges, Syracuse secured a 27-20 overtime victory against UConn, with Angelli's performance praised by Coach Brown.

As reported by ESPN, Brown stated, "It was a big game, and he (Angelli) came up and he played big, especially at the end." The team is now focused on improving their performance as they prepare to face Clemson.

Syracuse's upcoming game against Clemson will be a crucial test, as they aim to break their losing streak at Clemson's home field. The return of key players like Willis and Mack could provide the boost needed to secure a win.
