An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a house fire that occurred on Monday (September 8) on Park Street in Syracuse. The fire displaced four residents but resulted in no injuries. According to the Syracuse Fire Department, crews arrived at the 2 1/2-story home at approximately 3:12 p.m. and found smoke coming from the attic and walls. Firefighters quickly contained the fire within 20 minutes, limiting the damage to smoke and water throughout the house.
The fire originated in a concealed wall space and was ruled accidental, stemming from the use of an open flame near combustibles, as reported by Syracuse.com. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and the displaced residents are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
Emergency responders, including Syracuse Police, American Medical Response, and National Grid, were present at the scene to provide support. The investigation into the fire's cause continues, ensuring all safety protocols are followed to prevent future incidents.
