Fayetteville Residents Alerted to Boy Scout Scam

Fayetteville residents are being warned about a scam involving a man falsely claiming to be a member of the Boy Scouts. According to the Town of Manlius Police Department, the man has been going door-to-door, stating he is selling popcorn for a fundraiser and only accepting cash payments. However, police have confirmed that the individual has no affiliation with the Boy Scouts.

Authorities are urging anyone who believes they have been scammed to come forward. Victims are encouraged to contact the police department at 315-682-2212 and speak with Sergeant Lesperance, or reach out via email at blesperance@manliuspolice.org. The police are actively investigating the matter and are seeking more information from the public.

As reported by CNY Central, the suspect is described as a white male. Residents are advised to be cautious and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
