The New York State Department of Transportation has announced overnight lane closures on Interstate 81 northbound in Syracuse. These closures, which began on Tuesday (September 2), will continue through Friday (September 12) and will occur nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights. The closures are necessary for bridge steel installation between Exit 16A (Interstate 481 North) and the East Glen Avenue on-ramp.

Motorists traveling in the area should expect delays and are urged to follow posted detour signs to reach their destinations safely. The Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead and check for updates on their website.

These closures are part of ongoing construction efforts to improve infrastructure and ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews.
