An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in Geddes that injured multiple people. On Friday night (August 29), two men opened fire in the parking lot of the Lakeside Fire Department Recreation Hall during a party. One of the shooters, Kelvin Rivera-DeJesus, 29, accidentally shot himself in the leg and was taken into custody. He has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, according to Syracuse.com.
The shooting, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., resulted in five people being injured, including Rivera-DeJesus. Four other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and one remains hospitalized. The incident reportedly followed a verbal altercation during a party attended by over 100 people, as reported by LocalSYR.
Police are actively searching for the second shooter, who remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Geddes Police Department at 315-468-3283. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated as police work to locate the firearms involved.
