A 21-year-old man from Syracuse, Levon Huggins, faces multiple charges following a violent incident at a Watertown convenience store. The altercation occurred at Joe’s Kwik Mart on Arsenal Street on Tuesday (August 26). According to the Watertown Police Department, Huggins allegedly grabbed a teenage girl by the neck, pulled her by the arm, and forced her out of the store into his vehicle. He is also accused of smashing the girl's iPad and taking her phone as she attempted to call 911.
Authorities later located Huggins on South Meadow Street. After being pulled over by police, Huggins allegedly fled on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter. During the arrest, police discovered that Huggins was driving a rental car reported stolen from Hancock International Airport in Syracuse. Officers also found 15 glassine envelopes of fentanyl in his possession.
Huggins faces several charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, obstructing governmental administration, grand larceny, harassment, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also faces various traffic violations. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the measures in place to prevent such occurrences.
