Former Syracuse University quarterback Tommy DeVito was released by the New York Giants on Tuesday (August 26). The decision comes as the Giants manage a crowded quarterback roster, which includes seasoned players Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart. DeVito joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has since appeared in 12 games over two seasons. During his time with the team, he recorded eight touchdown passes and three interceptions.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the move was anticipated due to the competitive nature of the Giants' quarterback lineup. DeVito's release now leaves him searching for a new opportunity in the NFL. His performance with the Giants demonstrated potential, and he may attract interest from other teams seeking to bolster their quarterback options.
