Thunder Island, a well-known amusement park in Fulton, New York, is now up for sale. The 113-acre property is listed at $1.5 million, a decrease from the $2 million paid by the current owners, Shane and Gale LaBeef, in 2022. The park, which features a water park, go-kart track, mini-golf course, and a banquet hall with a commercial kitchen and bar, has been closed for the 2025 season.
The park first opened in 1979, founded by Harry and Tammie Perau, and has changed ownership several times. It was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and again in 2021 after the tragic death of co-owner Ron Falise. The LaBeefs took over in 2022, hoping to expand the park with new attractions like paintball and laser tag, but they have not commented on the current sale.
The park's Facebook page announced the closure for the 2025 season, expressing hope for reopening in 2026. The real estate listing by JF Real Estate highlights potential residential development opportunities on the property, which includes waterfront land on Ox Creek, flowing into the Oswego River.
Syracuse.com reports that the sale includes all existing attractions and facilities. The listing is a significant opportunity for potential buyers interested in revitalizing or redeveloping the property.
