Shane van Gisbergen showcased his dominance in the NASCAR Cup Series with a commanding victory at Watkins Glen International on Sunday (August 10). The Auckland, New Zealand native finished 11 seconds ahead of runner-up Christopher Bell, with Chris Buescher, William Byron, and Chase Briscoe completing the top five.

Van Gisbergen's win marks his fourth road course victory this season, setting a record for a rookie driver in the Cup Series. He joins elite company, becoming one of only three drivers, alongside Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon, to achieve four consecutive wins on road or street courses. Despite not starting from the pole position, van Gisbergen took the lead on Lap 25 and maintained his position with a smooth and flawless performance on the 2.45-mile track.

The victory further solidifies Trackhouse Racing's decision to extend van Gisbergen's contract, as reported by NASCAR.com. His success adds to his impressive record of five wins in just 38 career starts, trailing only Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson among active drivers on road or street courses.

The NASCAR Cup Series will continue its season at Richmond Raceway in Virginia on Saturday (August 16), marking the track's only race weekend this year.
