Woman Arrested for Manslaughter After Fatal Crash

Kali Seaman, a 23-year-old from Schroeppel was arrested on Wednesday (August 6) for first-degree vehicular manslaughter following a tragic accident on July 9. The crash, which occurred on State Route 49 in Hastings, resulted in the death of a two-year-old boy. According to the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, Seaman was impaired by cannabis at the time of the accident.

Seaman was driving a 2011 Chrysler minivan when she lost control of the vehicle. The minivan veered off the road, overturned, and collided with a utility pole, as reported by CNY Central. Two passengers, a 19-year-old woman and the two-year-old boy, were transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. The 19-year-old was in stable condition, but the young boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Seaman faces additional charges, including aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, driving while ability impaired by drugs, and several traffic violations. She turned herself in to authorities and was arraigned in Oswego County CAP Court. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, and she is currently held at the Oswego County Jail, according to Syracuse.com.
