The Fulton Police Department is set to welcome a new chief as Deputy Chief Christian Dempsey steps into the role on September 1. Dempsey will succeed Chief Michael Curtis, who is retiring after years of service. The transition was unanimously approved by the city Police and Fire Commission earlier this month.
With Dempsey's promotion, Lieutenant Brandon Lanning will be elevated to the position of deputy chief. As reported by Syracuse.com, the details of Dempsey's salary are still under negotiation with city officials, and discussions have not yet commenced.
Chief Curtis expressed confidence in Dempsey's capabilities, noting that the department is in good hands. The community awaits the official start of Dempsey's leadership, marking a new chapter for the Fulton Police Department.
