A former Oswego County Assistant District Attorney, Sarah Knickerbocker, has pleaded guilty to charges related to an alcohol-induced crash. The incident occurred last February on Bear Road in Clay, when Knickerbocker's vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with a car driven by an 18-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries.

Knickerbocker, 31, was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to second-degree vehicular assault and driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more. The vehicular assault charge is classified as an E-felony, which under New York law, results in automatic disbarment for attorneys. However, the appellate division may reverse the disbarment after seven years if there are no further convictions.

As part of her plea agreement, Knickerbocker's driver's license is suspended for one year, and she must relinquish her license to practice law. The case highlights the legal consequences of driving under the influence and the impact it can have on professional careers.

According to Syracuse.com, Knickerbocker avoided prison time but faced significant professional repercussions. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the legal responsibilities of those in the legal profession.
