In Syracuse, New York, a new development has emerged in the double homicide case involving David Huff, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Yeraldith Tschudy, and his son, Jeremiah Huff, in March. Attorneys for Huff announced in court on Tuesday (July 29) that they are pursuing a psychiatric defense for their client.

Huff is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he faces a second-degree attempted murder charge for allegedly pointing a shotgun at his stepfather, which malfunctioned or ran out of ammunition, according to Spectrum Local News.

The tragic incident took place at a Syracuse home, where Tschudy, 32, and Jeremiah, 11, were found dead. Huff's legal team is preparing a psychiatric evaluation report, which will be presented in court in September. His trial is tentatively scheduled to begin in May next year.

As reported by 13WHAM, Huff pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment. The case is being closely monitored by the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office as it progresses toward trial.
