A scheduled ramp closure is set to impact traffic flow in Onondaga County. The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that the West Street on-ramp to Interstate 690 eastbound in Syracuse will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, starting Monday (July 28) through Thursday (July 31). The closure is necessary for lighting repairs, and a detour will be in place to guide drivers.

Motorists are advised to follow the detour, which directs traffic east on Herald Place, south on North Salina Street, east on Erie Boulevard East, and north on North McBride Street to reach I-690 eastbound. According to the New York State Department of Transportation, construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Drivers are urged to slow down and adhere to speed limits in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding violations in these areas. Repeated offenses could lead to the suspension of a driver's license. For the latest road and travel conditions, visit 511ny.org.
