Central New York drivers are experiencing some relief at the pump as gas prices continue to drop. According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel in the region is currently $3.11. This marks a decrease of one cent from last week and three cents from a month ago.
Statewide, the average gas price in New York stands at $3.17, while the national average is slightly lower at $3.14. The decline in gas prices is part of a broader trend observed across various states, with Vermont at $3.10, New Jersey at $3.057, and Delaware at $3.081, as reported by AAA.
The decrease in prices is attributed to the "Dog Days of Summer," which traditionally bring lower gas prices due to reduced demand. This trend is providing some financial relief to drivers during the summer travel season.
As the summer progresses, drivers in Central New York and across the nation are hopeful that prices will continue to remain low, easing the burden on their wallets.
