A 17-year-old is facing felony charges after allegedly driving through the Skenandoa Golf Club in Clinton, causing significant damage. The incident occurred overnight between July 1 and July 2, resulting in over $4,000 worth of damage to the golf course. According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the teen drove a vehicle onto the course, damaging the tees, fairways, and trees around holes eight and nine.
The juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed due to age, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. Following the incident, the teen was arraigned and released to a parent, with a court appearance scheduled in the Oneida County Court Youth Part.
The Skenandoa Golf Club, located on Norton Avenue, reported tire track damage on the grass and additional harm to the course's landscape. The club's officials expressed dismay over the vandalism and are cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
