A 45-year-old man was stabbed in the head during an altercation in the parking lot of Brooklyn Pickle in Syracuse on Thursday (July 17). The incident occurred as the popular local restaurant chain celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special promotion offering $5 subs and other discounts. According to Syracuse.com, the stabbing took place around 12:10 p.m. in the back parking lot of the restaurant located at 1600 W. Genesee St.
The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Syracuse Police Department is investigating the incident, and anyone with information is urged to contact them at (315) 442-5222. LocalSYR reports that the men involved in the altercation were not part of the crowd waiting for the discounted subs.
Despite the incident, the anniversary event continued, drawing long lines of customers eager to take advantage of the special deals. Brooklyn Pickle, which opened its first location in 1975, has become a beloved fixture in the Syracuse community. The West Genesee Street location was the chain’s second storefront and has been serving customers for decades.
