An investigation is underway in West Monroe after two bodies were discovered following an apparent boating incident on Oneida Lake. According to the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, an off-duty deputy spotted an abandoned boat floating in shallow water on Wednesday (July 16). Upon further inspection, the deputy found two bodies in the Three Mile Bay area on the north shore of the lake.

The victims are believed to be adult men, but their identities have not yet been confirmed. The cause of death remains unclear, and it is not yet known if the men drowned or died from other causes. Sheriff's investigators have stated that there are no signs of foul play at this time.

The investigation is focusing on three main areas: any items that may have washed ashore, the abandoned boat, and the location where the bodies were found. An autopsy is expected to provide more answers regarding the circumstances of their deaths.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to gather more information about the incident. The nearest land to the site of the discovery is the Town of West Monroe in Oswego County.
