One Dead, Two Critically Injured in Sullivan Crash

A tragic accident occurred in Sullivan on Friday (July 11), resulting in one fatality and two critical injuries. A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling east on State Route 31, veered off the road, struck a ditch and culvert, and rolled over multiple times around 6:30 p.m., according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

The crash ejected all three occupants from the vehicle. A female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition. Another female passenger was transported to the same hospital by ambulance and remains in critical condition. The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of their families.

Syracuse.com reported that the accident's cause is still under investigation. Authorities have asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Madison County Sheriff's Office at 315-366-2311.

State Route 31 was temporarily closed between Smithridge Road and Weaver Road for accident reconstruction but has since reopened, as reported by Yahoo News.
