Man Dies in Cayuga County Rollover Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Monday (July 7) in the town of Summerhill, Cayuga County, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man. The incident took place around 5 p.m. on State Route 90, when the man's Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck lost control and overturned after leaving the roadway. According to New York State Police, the vehicle was traveling east when it veered off the north side of the road.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. FingerLakes1.com reported that a passenger, 47-year-old Lawanda H. Eaton of Cortland, survived the crash with no apparent injuries. She was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where she remains in stable condition.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, with assistance from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Locke Fire Department, is investigating the accident. Syracuse.com noted that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
