The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is set to close its North Syracuse office located on East Taft Road by the end of this year. The closure is due to the expiration of the office's lease. According to DMV spokesperson Walter McClure, operations will be shifted to other locations in the area, but the exact date of closure has not been finalized. The public will receive advance notice once the date is confirmed.

Despite the closure, DMV officials assure that there will be no impact on staffing levels in Onondaga County. Customers can continue to access DMV services at the remaining location on Onondaga Boulevard in Western Lights Plaza.

Syracuse.com reported that the DMV is actively seeking a new location for the North Syracuse office, but no decisions have been made yet.

Spectrum Local News noted that officials believe the closure will not significantly affect DMV customers in Central New York, as staffing and capacity levels will remain consistent across the region. The DMV is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for its services during this period.
