The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) has announced that bridge inspections in Geddes will begin today (Monday, July 7) and continue through Friday (July 11). These inspections will cause several lane and ramp closures on Interstate 690 and State Route 695.

According to the NYS DOT, the I-690 westbound off-ramp to State Route 695 southbound will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, the State Route 695 northbound off-ramp to I-690 east will be shut down from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should also expect lane reductions on I-690 east between Exit 10 and Exit 11, while I-690 west will be reduced to one lane between Exit 12A and Exit 9.

These closures are necessary to facilitate the bridge inspections, which are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of a driver’s license.

The NYS DOT emphasizes the importance of safety, reminding motorists to slow down and move over for highway workers. For more information and updates, drivers can visit the NYS DOT website or call 511.
