As one of the busiest travel weeks of the year kicks off, drivers in Central New York are experiencing steady gas prices. According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel in the region is $3.15, which is a penny less than last week but ten cents higher than a month ago. The state average stands at $3.21, while the national average is slightly lower at $3.18.

AAA reports that gas prices have not been this low in June since 2021, providing some relief to travelers during the summer driving season. AAA noted that recent fluctuations in oil prices, due to geopolitical tensions, have not significantly impacted pump prices. Despite a brief spike in petroleum futures, prices have stabilized.

With an estimated 72 million people expected to travel over the next several days, AAA Western and Central New York emphasizes that diesel prices have also seen a slight decrease. The national average for diesel is $3.49, and in New York, it is $3.85, both down two cents from last week.

Travelers can expect these stable prices to continue as they head out for the holiday week. For the latest updates on gas prices, AAA provides daily updates on county averages and other relevant information.
