Motorists traveling on Interstate 481 in DeWitt should be aware of ongoing lane closures this evening. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced that I-481 northbound will be reduced to one lane between Exit 5W (Kirkville Road West) and Exit 6 (I-90/Albany/Buffalo) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. tonight and tomorrow night. This closure is necessary for paving operations as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project.
The lane reductions are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. The NYSDOT urges drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in these areas. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could lead to the suspension of a driver's license.
