Starting today (Monday, June 23), drivers on Interstate 81 in Salina, New York, will experience lane reductions. According to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), the northbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Exit 26 (Mattydale) and Exit 27-28 (Syracuse Airport/Taft Rd/N Syracuse). This change will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will continue through Friday (June 27).

The lane reduction is necessary to facilitate bridge work in the area. Construction activities are weather-dependent, meaning that schedules may change based on weather conditions. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously in the work zone, as fines are doubled for speeding. Multiple speeding violations in work zones can lead to the suspension of a driver's license.

NYSDOT advises drivers to check for live traffic updates on 511ny.org or through the 511NY mobile app to stay informed about current road conditions.
