A new store called Mystery Bins is set to open in the former J.C. Penney location at Destiny USA in Syracuse on July 1. This marks a significant development for Destiny USA, the largest shopping mall in New York, which has faced challenges in recent months, including the loss of several tenants and a default on its $300 million mortgage.
Mystery Bins offers a unique shopping experience by selling discounted merchandise, including overstocks and returns from Amazon. However, the twist is that buyers do not know everything they are purchasing, adding an element of surprise to their shopping experience. The store offers a wide range of products, such as furniture, appliances, clothes, electronics, and luxury items, all at reduced prices.
The concept encourages shoppers to visit frequently, as the inventory changes regularly, and once an item is sold out, it may not return. This new addition to Destiny USA aims to attract bargain hunters and boost foot traffic at the mall. Mystery Bins already operates two other locations along the East Coast, in West Nyack, New York, and Holyoke, Massachusetts.
According to Syracuse.com, the opening of Mystery Bins is seen as a positive step for Destiny USA as it seeks to revitalize its offerings and stabilize its financial situation.
