The search for a missing kayaker at Tully Lake in Onondaga County has shifted to a recovery mission. The 21-year-old man, who was not wearing a life jacket, fell into the water while kayaking with a friend on Sunday (June 15). Despite efforts by nearby residents to rescue him, he did not resurface.

According to WSYR-TV, multiple agencies, including the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, Tully, Otisco, and Amber fire departments, have been involved in the search. The teams are using sonar technology and dive teams to locate the man's body.

The incident occurred around 3:35 p.m., and deputies were informed that the kayakers were not from the area but were camping nearby. A nearby resident heard cries for help and attempted to assist but was unsuccessful, as reported by Syracuse.com.

The recovery efforts include grid searches, dive teams, and aerial support from Air Onondaga One and drones. The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the search continues, with hopes of bringing closure to the victim's family.
