Several people are recovering after a crash on the New York State Thruway near Salina on Thursday (June 12). According to the New York State Police, a 15-passenger van traveling east on Interstate 90 missed Exit 36 and attempted to move back over to the exit. During this maneuver, a tractor-trailer struck the van from behind, causing it to roll over several times.
The accident occurred around 11:11 a.m., and all 15 passengers in the van were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger were not injured. WSYR-TV reports that the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
Traffic was initially backed up about a mile in the eastbound lane, but Syracuse.com notes that eastbound traffic on the Thruway is now moving normally. The State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
