Richard Bradley, a 36-year-old man from Syracuse, has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for firing an assault rifle at a gas station in Manlius. The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, when Bradley, impaired by drugs, fired several shots from his vehicle at the Sunoco gas station on Kirkville Road. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting, although the bullets struck the back seat area and trunk of an SUV.

Bradley, who has a prior felony conviction for criminal mischief, was not legally allowed to possess a firearm. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was ordered to forfeit the rifle. Alongside his prison sentence, Bradley will also serve a three-year term of supervised release.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the quick response by law enforcement and the actions of gas station employees helped prevent any injuries. The case was investigated as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime.
