Due to the ongoing Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, Fineview Place in Syracuse will permanently close today (Wednesday, June 11). The street, located between Renwick Avenue and Standart Street, is shutting down in both directions to make way for the new Business Loop 81.
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that this closure is necessary for the construction of the new roadway. In addition to Fineview Place, East Raynor Avenue between Fineview Place and Henry Street will also close in both directions starting at 7 a.m. It will reopen once the northbound section of Business Loop 81 is complete and open to traffic.
Motorists are advised to follow posted detours to navigate around the closures. The Department of Transportation urges drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in these areas. According to the Department of Transportation, "Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license."
The construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions. For up-to-date travel information, tune to NewsRadio 570 WSYR.
