Syracuse police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred on Tuesday (June 3) near the Pioneer Homes apartments on South Townsend Street. A 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his arm around 5:35 p.m. and was quickly transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to Syracuse police spokesperson Kieran Coffey.
The incident took place at 1131 S. Townsend St., and police responded to multiple calls reporting the shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the injured man outside the apartment complex. Investigators have been gathering evidence at the scene, including taking photographs and collecting items of interest.
The Syracuse Police Department has closed a section of South Townsend Street at East Taylor Street as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (315) 442-5522.
This shooting follows another incident in the same area where a 24-year-old man was shot in the back on Saturday (May 31). Police are continuing to investigate both cases and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspects involved.
