With less than a month until the Democratic primary, three candidates for Syracuse mayor participated in a forum on Thursday (May 29) at the Everson Museum's Hosmer Auditorium. The event, hosted by Central Current, featured Democrats Chol Majok, Pat Hogan, and Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens. Each candidate had the opportunity to present their vision for the city if elected in November.
Current Mayor Ben Walsh is unable to run for re-election due to term limits, making this race particularly significant for the future of Syracuse. The forum aimed to inform voters ahead of the primary election scheduled for June 24.
According to Central Current, the event was open to the public, allowing audience members to submit questions to the candidates. This engagement is part of Central Current's mission to connect with the local community and provide essential information about Central New York.
The forum is part of the "Current Conversations" series, which seeks to bring residents face-to-face with key issues and leaders shaping the region. For those unable to attend, Central Current will provide a fact sheet and additional coverage to keep the community informed.
