Oneida County has launched the OC C.A.R.E.S. app, a new smartphone application designed to provide residents with easy access to mental health, addiction treatment, and community resources. Announced on Thursday (May 29) by County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr., the app aims to support the county's mission of offering a comprehensive, one-stop resource for mental health services and demonstrating the county's commitment to its community.

The OC C.A.R.E.S. app, which stands for Community Access to Resources, Education, and Services, is now available for download on both the App Store and Google Play. According to CNY Central, the app offers features such as crisis services, safety plans, and career-specific support. It was developed in conjunction with the Oneida County System of Care 2025 Resource Guide, aiming to improve the lives of people in crisis by addressing needs related to mental health, substance use, and other community resources like housing and healthcare.

The app's creation is part of an ongoing effort by the county's Department of Mental Health to provide a comprehensive directory of providers and ensure that resources are accurate and accessible. WUTR/WFXV reports that the app will notify users of updates and events, such as open appointments for specific services, and provide strategies for maintaining mental health.

Commissioner of Mental Health and Director of Community Services Ashlee Thompson emphasized the app's role in effectively and efficiently connecting residents with necessary support. The app is part of Oneida County's broader commitment to improving community health and well-being, as highlighted in the county's official website.
