Syracuse, N.Y. - A man is dead after being shot by Syracuse Police Tuesday night.
Around 10 Officers were called to the 200 block of North Townsend Street, for shots fired. When they arrived they discovered it was an active shooter situation.
They entered the building where they were allegedly shot at by 42-year-old Donnell Hogan.
The officers returned fire striking Hogan who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A handgun was recovered from the scene.
The New York State Attorney General's Office responded to the scene and is also investigating the incident.
