Three former corrections officers from Marcy Correctional Facility are due in Oneida County Court today (May 13) regarding the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks. The officers, Anthony Farina, Nicholas Kieffer, and David Kingsley, are considering plea deals as they face murder charges related to the December incident.

Last month, the court granted the officers additional time to consider their plea offers after new evidence emerged during the discovery process. This evidence was not previously accessible to their attorneys, leading to a delay in proceedings. According to 13WHAM, the court session is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The case has already seen one former officer, Christopher Walrath, plead guilty to manslaughter earlier this month. He is the first officer to reach a plea deal in the case. If the three officers do not accept plea deals, they will proceed to trial. Additional officers are expected to appear in court on Wednesday (May 14) and others on May 19.
