A truck driver received 12 traffic tickets after his vehicle collided with the Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge in Syracuse, New York, on Tuesday (May 6). Lyonel Signi, 31, was driving a box truck toward Syracuse when it struck the bridge around 3:30 p.m., according to Tom Newton, a spokesperson for the Onondaga Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred after Signi passed 10 signs warning of the bridge's low clearance. The truck became lodged under the bridge, causing a two-hour delay before it was removed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Signi, who owns Lyon King Logistics LLC, a Las Vegas-based transport company, was cited for multiple violations. He received 10 tickets for ignoring traffic control devices, one for unreasonable speed with bridge hazards present, and another for failing to use a designated lane, which refers to a marked truck pull-off zone.
The bridge, owned by CSX Transportation, has a posted clearance of 10 feet, 9 inches. Commercial vehicles, which are typically 13 to 14 feet high, have been prohibited from using the parkway for decades. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about vehicle height restrictions and compliance with traffic regulations.
