Syracuse police are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday (April 30) on James Street, leaving a man in his 20s injured. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to his upper-right leg and was transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to CNY Central.
The incident took place around 4:20 p.m. in the 900 block of James Street, prompting a swift response from the Syracuse Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, and New York State Police. Officers cordoned off the area with crime scene tape, and a handgun was found on the road behind the secured section. Syracuse.com reported that the police tape surrounded the CNY Works and Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways building.
The police have not announced any arrests yet and are urging anyone with information to contact their criminal investigations division at 315-442-5222. The street was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
