Motorists traveling on Interstate 690 westbound in Geddes will face a lane closure through Friday (May 2). The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced that the highway will be reduced to one lane between Exit 12A (NY 695/Lakeland/Auburn) and Exit Nine (State Fair Blvd/Lakeland) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The closure is necessary for bridge inspection work.

The NYSDOT advises drivers to slow down and exercise caution when passing through the work zone. Construction activities are weather-dependent, so schedules may change based on conditions.

Motorists should remain vigilant and adhere to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers. According to the CNY Central, fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and multiple violations could lead to a suspension of the driver's license.

For more information and updates, drivers can visit the NYSDOT website or use the 511NY mobile app.
