An investigation is underway concerning an alleged hazing incident involving members of the Westhill High School boys varsity lacrosse team in Syracuse. The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office confirmed the investigation, but details remain scarce as no arrests have been made yet.

According to WSYR-TV, the incident was reported on Friday (April 25), and the Sheriff's Office is currently interviewing all parties involved. The alleged incident did not occur on school grounds or during school hours. Westhill Superintendent Steve Dunham stated that some students made a poor decision involving other students outside of school property last week. Dunham emphasized that, due to the involvement of minors, limited information can be shared at this time.

The boys' varsity lacrosse game against Guilderland High School was canceled on Saturday (April 26) as a result of the ongoing investigation. CNY Central reported that the Sheriff's Office is relying on reports made to them since deputies did not witness the incident firsthand.

The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office has referred inquiries to the Sheriff's Office, which plans to release more information if it becomes available. Syracuse.com noted that Superintendent Dunham has not responded to multiple inquiries for further comments.

As the investigation continues, the community awaits further details and potential outcomes regarding the alleged hazing incident.
