The Trump administration has revoked the visas of three international students at Syracuse University, placing them among over 1,700 students nationwide who have recently lost their legal status. The decision was made without explanation, leaving the students at risk of deportation. Syracuse University officials confirmed that two of the affected students are expected to graduate on time, while efforts are underway to help the third continue their studies.

The university, which learned of the revocations this week, stated that it was not notified in advance and did not share any student information with the government. Syracuse.com reported that the university is working with the affected students through its Center for International Services and Office of Academic Affairs to ensure continuity in their education.

The revocation of visas has sparked concern among college leaders across the country. Some students have reportedly been targeted for their activism, such as Momodou Tall, a Cornell University student whose visa was revoked due to his involvement in pro-Palestinian protests, as noted by CNY Central.

In response to these actions, lawsuits have been filed against the Department of Homeland Security, challenging the justification for the visa cancellations. A federal judge recently ordered Immigration & Customs Enforcement to restore the legal status of more than 130 students who had their visas revoked.
