The Syracuse Police and Fire Departments are set to revive their friendly basketball rivalry in the Bravest vs. Finest game on Friday, May 23, at Corcoran High School. This event, which hasn't occurred since 2019, aims to raise funds for the United Way of Central New York. The game will tip off at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening an hour earlier.

Tickets are priced at $10 each, though children aged five and under can attend for free. All proceeds will benefit the United Way, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local programs and initiatives across Onondaga County. In 2024, the United Way distributed over $2.2 million to 73 programs, demonstrating its significant impact on the community.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh, who announced the game's return, emphasized its importance, saying, "The Bravest vs. Finest game is more than just a basketball game — it’s a testament to the dedication of our public safety personnel and their commitment to the community." Fire Chief Michael Monds added that the event will also include fire prevention education from off-duty firefighters.

The game promises to be a fun, family-friendly event, celebrating the unity and public service of Syracuse's first responders. On-site parking will be available, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early for timely entry. For more details, visit the United Way website.
