Roadwork on Interstate 81 in Syracuse is expected to cause traffic delays starting today (April 14). The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that I-81 southbound will be reduced to one lane between the on-ramp to Interstate 690 eastbound and Exit 18, which includes Adams Street and Harrison Street. This lane reduction will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and is scheduled to continue through April 25.
The lane closure is necessary to facilitate bridge work in the area. However, the construction schedule is weather-dependent and may change if conditions are not favorable. Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes during the construction period.
According to LocalSYR, the Department of Transportation has urged drivers to remain cautious and patient while navigating the affected area.
