Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday night (April 12) in Oneida County. The accident took place on state Route 12 at the Trenton Road overpass in Deerfield. According to WSYR-TV, the vehicle was traveling north when it veered off the road, crossed the center median, and struck a bridge post before catching fire.
First responders arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with the driver deceased inside. The victim's identity has not been released, pending family notification. The New York State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. State Route 12 was closed for several hours to allow for the investigation but has since reopened.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward with information. The investigation remains ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available. Trooper RJ Girard confirmed that the car was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.
