Due to the ongoing Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, drivers in Onondaga and DeWitt should prepare for lane reductions on Interstate 481 starting today (April 7). According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the northbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Exit 1 (Brighton Ave/Rock Cut Road) and Exit 2 (Jamesville Rd/Jamesville) through Wednesday (April 9). Southbound lanes will see similar reductions from Exit 2 to Exit 1 on Thursday (April 10) and Friday (April 11).

Construction will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is part of bridge work associated with the larger I-81 Viaduct Project. The lane reductions are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive cautiously in work zones, as fines for speeding are doubled.
