Central New York motorists are experiencing a slight increase in gas prices, according to Triple A. The average cost for a gallon of regular fuel in the region is now $3.09, marking a one-cent rise from last week. However, this price is still six cents lower than it was a month ago and 32 cents less than the same time last year.
The current state average for New York is $3.11, while the national average stands at $3.16. According to CNY Central, gas prices in New York State have actually decreased by one cent from the previous week, providing some relief to drivers as they prepare for the transition to more expensive summer-blend gasoline.
Summer-blend gas, which is less likely to evaporate in warm temperatures, is more costly to produce, leading to expected price increases. For those using diesel fuel, the national average is currently $3.58, while in New York State, it is $3.94, both down one cent from last week.
