The Syracuse Water Department is actively addressing a water supply shortage that has disrupted service for some residents. The shortage resulted from the shutdown of an intake pipe from Skaneateles Lake, causing weak or no water pressure in several areas. According to a recent report by Syracuse.com, water levels at the city's reservoirs and storage tanks have been steadily increasing over the past two weeks as leaks are being repaired and the distribution system is adjusted.

The issue arose from a combination of factors, including mounting leaks and breaks in the century-old distribution system, which led to a sudden loss of water pressure in several parts of the city. Although the water levels remain below normal, they have improved from earlier in the month. City officials have discussed the possibility of asking residents to conserve water if the situation does not improve, but they have not yet made that request.

Residents concerned about their water service are encouraged to contact the Syracuse Water Department. The department continues to work on restoring full service and preventing future outages. For more information, residents can refer to the city's official communications.
