Adult, Child Dead After Syracuse Double Shooting

UPDATE: Syracuse Police have arrested David Huff. He was found near the crime scene around 9:30 Tuesday morning. Police were able to find him due to a tip by a citizen.

An adult and a child were tragically killed in a double shooting in Syracuse on Monday night (March 17). Officers responded to a home on Roney Road around 9:34 p.m. and found both victims had succumbed to gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as a 33-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick.

The suspect, 43-year-old David Huff, was identified and described as a white male, about five feet six inches tall, with brown hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. Syracuse police sought the public's help in locating him.

A tip from a citizen led to Huff's arrest around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the area of the crime scene. The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing. Local SYR reports that the community is in shock over the tragic event, as law enforcement continues to piece together the circumstances leading to the shooting.
